In partnership with Water First and the Waabnoong Bemjiwang Association of First Nations, JCSC is hosting two interns as part of the Water First Environmental Water Intern Program. This summer, JCSC welcomed Jade from Wahnapitae First Nation and Sarah from Temagami First Nation to the team.
The paid, 15-month training initiative is designed for Indigenous participants to build local capacity in managing water, fish resources, and environmental health. During their placements, Jade and Sarah take part in environmental monitoring, fieldwork, watershed stewardship, and community-based conservation projects throughout the Junction Creek watershed.
WBAFN is proud to support the program. It brings people together around a shared commitment to water, land and healthy communities, and it helps interns grow their skills while they learn alongside their partners.
